New binocular line up from Ricoh

Ricoh Imaging has announced a complete new line-up of 34 high quality PENTAX optical devices, each with new features and coating technology for enhanced performance. The new range of binoculars is divided across four clearly defined categories to enable consumer choice:

Z-series - This series is the flagship of the PENTAX range, offering premium quality and clarity, at an affordable price. The Z-series models are clearly built for critical observation.  The new Full Multi-Coating and a new Enhanced Light Transmission Coating are designed to delight the most demanding users and inspire the most dedicated enthusiasts.  The Z-series also boasts a hydrophobic protective coating, which makes water droplets "peel" off the surface of the lenses, ideal for outdoor use.

S-series - Consists of both roof and porro prism models with objective lenses > 40mm so personal preferences are immediately defined. In addition to the newly developed coatings applied on all roof prism models, the higher-end porro prism models in this series also boast the protective coating, which allows for contrast-rich, bright viewing under rough outdoor conditions.

A-series - Also consists of roof and porro prism models but with objective lenses < 40mm.  Offering impeccable viewing quality through the application of the same advanced coatings, this series is considered the compact, portable and durable smaller brother of the S-series. Users can enjoy both mobility and convenience without compromising optical performance.

U-series - These compact, inverted porro-prism models feature a durable dual-axis, single body design with synchronised IPD adjustment and full multi-coating for better light transmission.  The aspherical lens elements also deliver edge-to-edge sharpness. They are the perfect "utility" companion for a multitude of applications.

Each binocular in the new line-up offers advances in optical precision.  These new and improved technologies include:

Fully Multi-Coated Optics

Fully multi-coated lenses maximize the amount of light passing through a lens, thereby preventing flare and ghosting from interfering with your view.  PENTAX applies multiple layers of coatings to every surface of every element and prism in the full Sport Optics line-up.  These fully multi-coated optics ensure maximum light transmission, resulting in a clear, crisp view of the world.

New Enhanced Light Transmission Coatings

PENTAX binoculars take quality optics to the next level by applying a new, optimised film-deposition technology on lens and prism surfaces resulting in increased light transmission which creates bright images with accurate colour rendition.

Protective Lens Coatings

All optical surfaces are delicate and must be handled with care to prevent scratching.  To increase the durability of the Z- and S-series Water Proof binoculars*, PENTAX has added a protective, nano technology coating that helps deflect water, oil, dust and dirt.  This allows PENTAX binoculars to withstand the harshest viewing conditions. *Limited to ZD-ED, ZD-WP and SP-WP models.

Other Optical Technology

• BaK4 prisms - Due to its outstanding refractive index, the BaK4 glass prism found in all PENTAX Sport Optics is highly acclaimed for its perfectly round exit pupil and clear, unvignetted image

• Phase Correction - The complex optical design of roof prism binoculars provide a durable, compact, yet lightweight design but require a higher level of optical perfection.  A phase-correction coating is applied in the full range of roof prism binoculars to maximise image viewing quality.

• Long Eye relief - The long eye relief offered in all PENTAX Sport Optics allows the viewer to see the entire field of view clearly and effortlessly. This is especially beneficial to eyeglass wearers, and allows viewing for extended periods of time without added eye strain.

Outdoors Companion

• PENTAX Waterproofing - PENTAX waterproof products are fully sealed and purged with laboratory grade nitrogen to provide a fog proof view in the harshest weather conditions. With a JIS Class 6 rating, PENTAX waterproof binoculars can even be submerged in up to 3 feet of water.

• Inner Focus Optics Design - this sophisticated optical design is critical to low-maintenance and long life guarantee.  Exposure to airborne particles and moisture is avoided, and ensures that no outside elements disrupt functionality.

For more than 75 years PENTAX binoculars have pushed optical technology to the edge to ensure that world travellers, wildlife adventurers, devoted bird watchers, and stargazers never miss a moment.

Hasselblad appoints new CEO

The Hasselblad Group has announced the appointment of a new Chief Executive Officer with immediate effect. Perry Oosting - an established member of the Hasselblad Supervisory Board - takes the helm following the completion of former CEO Ian Rawcliffe's interim CEO assignment.

Mr Oosting brings over 25 years of experience in brand, product, marketing and sales-management to the company and has worked for iconic global brands such as Bulgari, Prada and Gucci.

As a former CEO of luxury mobile phone manufacturer VERTU he achieved substantial revenue growth and profit - and prepared the company for a solid brand & product proposition as he initiated change to a new operating system to widen appeal to a broader customer audience.

He said: "It is an honour for me to accept this new role at Hasselblad and become an integral part of this iconic brand. This company has an incredible history and with its core DNA has a sound foundation for further development. The recent and widely acclaimed launch of our 'back to the future' CFV-50c CMOS back is a great example of our ongoing commitment to the total Hasselblad brand experience that enables customers to benefit from our advanced and exclusive digital engineering know-how."

He added: "My former experiences will certainly be an advantage, but I see Hasselblad as a unique opportunity and therefore it will need a tailor-made strategic direction and implementation to support future growth."

Dr. Helmut Vorndran, Chairman of the Supervisory Board Hasselblad added: "We are delighted Perry has accepted this new role to further develop and strengthen our brand and product proposition. Now with the combination of a solid foundation, and Perry's priceless expertise, we feel confident we can achieve our ambitious goals. We also thank his predecessor Ian for setting the base within the agreed time schedule and for his valuable contribution to Hasselblad."

A Hasselblad spokesperson commented: "Former CEO Ian Rawcliffe's focus was to enhance the company's operations and build a solid base. With this in place together with Perry's extensive experience, the company now has the best foundation to successfully implement its long term strategy - based on its unique positioning and strength in its core product proposition."

One Vision Imaging teams up with 3XM

One Vision Imaging, the UK's award winning professional photographic laboratory has indeed teamed up with 3XM to bring you, what they believe to be the perfect USB solution. The  opportunity to sell your images once your client transaction is complete, and beyond.

Managing Director Derek Poulston told us 'We've been looking for a high quality USB product for some time now and whenever we found something we thought was suitable, we found ourselves comparing it to that of 3XM's market leading product. At the same time the team at 3XM were searching for a high quality professional photographic laboratory for their print solution fulfilment. In a nutshell, we met, we agreed and we came together to deliver what we believe is the very best USB package in Europe, the 3XM Solution!'

The photographer hands their images over to their clients on a digital delivery device or they sell products directly to their client and typically this is the end of the client transaction. Well not anymore! The 3XM Solution gives photographers the opportunity to sell products, even after their transaction with the client has ended.

So how does it work?

Using the 3XM solution the photographer creates a beautiful online image gallery. The customer can then share their images via social media (Note: As the images are not actually hosted on the social media platform there are no issues related to the recent copyright changes to Facebook). Every time the images or gallery are shared the photographers brand and business details are shared too; a great way to promote their business to future clients. Not only this, but the online gallery can be viewed on any device and even saved as an app on their clients phone.

Images that keep on selling

Now, when the photographers client (or their family & friends) view the online gallery they have the option to purchase products. The photographer controls which products they want to offer, view the lab prices for each product and very easily create a pricelist for their clients. The best bit? They (the photographer) keep 100% of the profits.

Beautiful Products, fulfilled by a professional lab you can trust

With a comprehensive and award winning range of products available from One Vision Imaging, you can relax in the knowledge that any products ordered by the photographers clients will be of the highest professional quality. This solution means that even after the photographer has completed the job they can continue to earn money from product sales. And since it's completely free for them to try, there's nothing to lose.

Online Gallery 'share & sell' plans

Unlimited online galleries with up to 100 images - FREE

Pro250 - Online gallery with up to 250 images - £5 + VAT

Pro1000 - Online gallery with up to 1000 images - £10 + VAT
